More About The Inouye Medal of Honor Bronze Plaque
This custom bronze plaque was commissioned to commemorate the late Senator Daniel K Inouye, Hawaii's first Congressman and later Senator, who was a medal of honor recipient for his actions during World War II, and to dedicate the parade field adjacent to the National Infantry Museum to him.
After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Senator Inouye joined the military and fought with the 442nd infantry during which time he lost his arm in a battle near San Terenzo Italy. Soil from the battleground where Senator Inouye earned his award has been sprinkled on the parade field, and marked by this bronze memorial.
